Hey guys
Wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm trying to work out what frets john uses at the end of ocean on "one small step". Its the bit right at the end. It almost sounds like he's hit the wrong fret and just gone with it, but i think it sounds kinda cool and want to use it when i play ocean. i've played it back and forth trying to work it out but can't for the life of me. Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

Hey nernstie.
I have an answer :shifty: Assuming that this is 440 concert pitch you're playing in, I'd say the notes you are looking for are; F#, and I'd say that's being played on the two B strings - that F# is then bent up a half step to G - no mean feat on a 12 string - before coming back to rest at the unresolved F# again for the last note.
The resolved note would be E, one whole step down but it stops short this time. A nice way to wind up, pointedly
But hey, don't take this as gospel whatever you do.This is just an educated guess and I'm just a turtle. What would I know?

Cheers Merbo
It seems to be the right notes. and you were right in that it is a mean feat to bend up to the G on the 12 string. Hand strength is going to need a bit of work

Sweet! Thanks champ. Be gentle with your fingers or you might do some damage. Use more than one for the bend is a good idea if you're not doing that already. You'll get there.

Light guage strings will make bends easier
