Umm, I guess that John would play it in Open C, but the tab's in standard. Just mess around with the chords: G C E D
EDIT:
This sounds alright:
E|---------| C|---0-4-2-| G|---0-4-2-| C|---0-4-2-| G|-7-------| C|-7-------| G|-7-------|

G|---------|
C|------0--4-2---|
G|-7-9-0--4-2----|
C|-7-7-0--4-2----|
G|-7-7-0--4-2---|
with some variation depending on how your feeling it, thats just the base to work off

Are you sure it's in Open C? Sounds like a 6 string.I find this sounds a bit closer..
E|---------|
C|---------|
G|---------|
C|------0--4-2---|
G|-7-9-0--4-2----|
C|-7-7-0--4-2----|
G|-7-7-0--4-2---|
with some variation depending on how your feeling it, thats just the base to work off
definately in open C though, and a 12 string. but i only have a six :|
I had a bit of a go at this today and I think that it's in drop D.
Intro:
E|-------------| B|-------------| G|-------------| D|-7--2--2--0--| A|-5--2--2--0--| D|-5--0--2--0--|
Sound's pretty close to me, except I'm not sure about the second chord, it's hard to make it out. Haven't worked out the rest yet.
